Mutti is a german term of affection for mother - aka "mummy". I thought that would be a sweet title :)

This is my mum - it was a gift for her birthday, and is done completely in 2H mechanical pencil and 6B pure graphite. It's taken me ages to get a decent picture of it thoguh (with regards to lighting). This was the best I have, though still required a lot of cleaning up!!!

It's a portrait of my mum from when I was a baby - I drew it using a photo reference which I'll submit to my scraps <3 You can find the photo ref here: [link]

So, this took about 10 hours to do, over the space of about 3-4 weeks (it was exactly 3 or 4 weeks, I forget which ^^;), and I was glad to finish it. For my first pencil realism portrait, I actually think I did a really good job - which I dont say often! ^^ I made lots of mistakes, yes, but with practice I can only improve, and I'm still happy with the end result :D Everyone who has seen it in real life has been really impressed with it, commented how alike it and the reference photo look, and also how like my mum I look :giggle: So I'm happy its got so much approval - I hope you guys like it so much too ^^

Anyway~ Enjoy, I'll leave it at that :aww:

If you see a creepy little short haired boy in striped pajamas sitting on the end of your bed at midnight, telling you that you may die in 10 days time, say hi to me 'kay?...It's my hobby~

Wow, man, that is GORGEOUS 8| It's done so well, my God! You've worked wonderfully of the reference photo, hun, and the shading in this is absolutely divine~ It's so soft, and I LOVE to pieces the shading on the hair! That's just... WOW. And the clothes, too, all the intricate folds and patterns... you just NAILED 'em! I'm so proud of you, hun, this is brilliant <333

Wow, this is amazing! You have followed the reference well, and at the same time have managed to make it your own, unique portrait. The hair looks soft and lovely, and the attention to detail is lovely. Well done on the clothes (the folds are great), and also the teeth! :) I can never draw teeth! xD It's a lovely gift for your mother <3
:iconimaeko:
Thankyou so much Thali! ^^ :glomp: Ah I thought teeth were hard too... in colour I always find things harder actually - I have to say in graphite / monotone in general its actually a lot easier :XD: The trick is to really just not make them big white slabs - they're truly off colour and have shades of their own around the edges etc etc :3  ^^

I think I'll have to try and get a bit of a better photo though (the lights gone again, its chucking it down lol, so there that idea fgoes for another week lol), because it just looks so indisctinct and blurry... the real thing is ten times more fresh and sharp.. D:
